Postpartum Care

Your first days home with your baby are amazing, precious moments but can also be overwhelming and filled with uncertainty. Too often in our culture the focus is put solely on the health and wellbeing of the baby and not enough on the health and recovery of the parent. Without the ensured care of the parent, how well really can the baby be cared for. New parents need as much attention and gentle nourishing guidance as the baby in the days weeks or even months after birth. I can not stress this enough. Some times all you need as a new parent is the opportunity to both care for your baby and yourself  effectively. A postpartum and baby care doula can help you accomplish just that. 

 

I will help you understand your new baby and learn the important baby cues that will assist you in becoming more confident in meeting your baby's needs. I will also help you to practice self care and assist you with monitoring your own needs.  I can take care of minor household chores and errands to bring you further peace of mind and facilitate a more harmonious environment  for you to rest and recover.

• Breastfeeding/Chestfeeding Support and Formula Feeding Support

• Light House Work (laundry, dishes, etc.) 

• Evidence based guidance on postpartum and baby practices

• Newborn Assistances  (guidance on feeding, bathing, clothing, etc.)

• Expert referrals for other specialized infant and parent resources

• Meal planning and guidance

• Information on baby sleep habits

Newborn Care

There are so many great reason to take advantage of newborn care after the arrival of a new baby but the number one reason is usually sleep! Once baby is home you'll find sleep can easily be pushed to the bottom of the to-do list, but the importance of sleep and rest can not be understated. Friends and family are quick to advise, "sleep when the baby sleeps" but the easiness of that task can be quite out of reach without proper support.

I can help establish healthy sleep habits for the baby and provide an extra pair of hands around the house so that you get your much needed sleep. Bottle feeding or breastfeeding/chestfeeding or a combination is no problem. We can discuss what would work best for your needs and customize a plan. I am here to take baby off your hands almost entirely so that your own recovery and self care are attended to. 

 

Day time or overnight hours are available. I find most of my parents find overnight care the most useful in the first few weeks home.

 

 Postpartum and Newborn Care offered at $30/hr.
